At 649km above sea level it sits at the foot of Mount Maroma.

For those wishing to relax the village boasts a beautiful seasonal outdoor pool, with a mountain backdrop. What a way to spend the day!
At Canillas we love our festivals! There’s quite a few…..

* La Fenade Nuestra Senora de La Cabeza (August)
Nerja was once an old fishing village; now a vibrant coastal town with lots to offer for all. Approximately 50km from Malaga, Nerja is positioned on the eastern tip of the Costa del Sol, just a short drive along the stunning coastline to the Costa Tropical, Granada province.
The town is known for its Balcon de Europa, once a site of a Moorish castle, now boasting panoramic views over the Mediterranean Sea. You’ll find yourself just wandering around the town, discovering the many delights of the multitude of shops, museums,/galleries, cafes, bars and restaurants. Discovering the Old Quarter with its narrow winding streets and tapas bars takes you back in time.
Nerja has several cliffside coves and sandy beaches; maybe the most well known being Burriana Beach, with its vibrant promenade full of restaurants.
If you love to get active then it doesn’t disappoint; waterskiing, scuba diving, sailing, kayaking and snorkelling are all available. If mountains are your pleasure then Nerja is surrounded by the Sierra Almijara, Tejeda and Alhama, natural parks, great for walking, hiking and cycling. You can even start some walks from Nerja itself.
A visit to the Cueva de Nerja. (caves) with its prehistoric paintings is a must. In Summer they even hold their own concerts.
Nerja still retains Spanish traditions and what could be more traditional than the Spanish festivals. Here’s a sample:
* Día de los Reyes Magos, (Jan)
* Santa Semana (Mar/Apr)
* Romeria de San Isidro (May)
* San Juan (June)
* Virgin deal. Carmen (July)
* Feria (Oct)
